Tattoo Apprenticeships, how does it work?

Our Minnesota location is licensed with the Department of Health as a Body Art Establishment. We are licensed to perform tattoo services and take tattoo apprenticeships. You will need a Temporary Body Art Technician license sponsored by the tattoo establishment while you are completing your 200 hours of skin contact time. We will provide our information upon student deposit and enrollment to obtain the temp license. Upon completion, we will provide you with the necessary notary paperwork for you to apply for your permanent Body Art Technician license. During your apprenticeship you are required to complete a blood borne pathogen (online training), create an LLC business name so you can market/protect yourself, and must have active tattoo insurance throughout your time with us.

Empowering Future Tattoo Artists in Minnesota

KongCheng (KC) at only nine-teen years old temporarily left college in early 2024 to pursue his love for art to become a tattoo artist. He continued to pay his rent in his college town which was two hours away. KC worked very hard at drawing his art because he always took on the challenge to meet his clients in the middle. He under promised and over delivered with his skill set. Upon completion, he never went back to school. Upon finishing his apprenticeship, with all the money he made and saved, and business knowledge he gained through our apprenticeship program, he moved right into a suite and continued his business like usual. KC is a humble person that any client can trust. He currently is operating out of New Brighton, MN.

I am happy that See is my Mentor. It's only been a year since I became a tattoo artist and I am getting better and better.

Alisha from Lakeville, MN is an inspiration! She had the fire in her eyes when she joined our apprenticeship program. Alisha had a vision of where she wanted to go and who she wanted to become. She just needed to learn as quick as possible. She worked hard at trying to learn everything and then going through a process of elimination. She fell in love with fine line tattoos!

Her business and niche stemmed from a vacation trip with her mother and friends. The ladies showed up at a tattoo parlor and the environment felt uncomfortable. Her mother asked if she was going to end up with an infection after getting a tattoo. It was a laughing moment that turned that experience into a purpose to lead in the tattoo industry.

Meet @the.asylum.ink! We were able to join her grand opening of her business in downtown Lakeville. A safe environment for all women to be heard, be comfortable, & get tatted with lots of love. She's unique with offering pin-up drawings from Dolly Parton to Taylor Swift fan and much more. Also, who doesn't love women empowerment!!!

See is committed to sharing her knowledge. A marketing class ($500 value) is included with your apprenticeship.

Scholarship

We believe in giving back. Every year a $500 scholarship payment is given back to one student to use towards on-going tattoo training, tattoo supplies, or business expense.
